Absent Friends, that is the latest work of THE DIVINE COMEDY, is a good work. This work is just his (Neil Hannon) one. It sounds like traditional pop music, but far from the others.

西遊記 (7), (8) will be released from IWANAMI SHOTEN on 2005-05-17. 西遊記 is a chinese fiction, consisted of 100 topics. The original version was written by 呉承恩 on 1600s. 西遊記 (7), (8) are translated versions into Japanese by Michiko Nakano, and include topics from the topic No.61 to 80.
The characteristics of this version is to have many notes based on the translator. These notes are useful for the readers that have already read the another version. But the translation, especially for dialogs is strange for me. My favorite version is FUKUONKAN's one. It has excellent figures and translation, although it was translated for children and does not have whole 100 topics.

Music that is made with computer. I think he is looking for psychedelic sound that nobody has ever listened to, and he will find. I like his attitude.
The quality of sound is cared about very much as his previous works. It brings me comfort. Moreover, the feeling of sound is cared about too, just like techno music. So I'm sorry his voice, especially his shout. His feeling was expressed enough without it in his works.
But I took to this album. The best moment is the echo of the piano in the last tune. The echo reminded me of Echoes by Pink Floyd. Off course, it is different from that of Pink Floyd. But I can feel some images from their works.
